Two Post-doc positions are open at MolNaC

  1. An exceptional Post Doc candidate is required to carry out a collaborative research project between the group of Dr. Giuseppe Milano and an a well known industrial partner (ST Microelectronics).
The project involves the development and application of new molecular simulation methods at atomistic and coarse-grained level to polymeric materials relevant in Nanoelectronics. Experience in modifying and writing Molecular Dynamics and/or Monte Carlo codes (not simply using packages) is required. The appointment is for one year with the possibility of a yearly renewalthereafter. The research group has good computational facilities, and friendly atmosphere. Computational facilities at Molnac include local workstations, two beowulf cluster, and access to large computer resources via membership at the main supercomputer centres in Europe.
Please send a CV and names of 3 references to Dr. Giuseppe Milano ([email protected]).

  2. Postdoctoral position to perform studies on computational organometallic chemistry with Prof. Dr. Luigi Cavallo in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Salerno, Italy. The group directed by Prof. Cavallo is a leading group in the understanding of the mechanics of real size catalytic systems. The group has excellent computational facilities, and a friendly atmosphere. Salerno is a pleasent seaside city in southern Italy, very close to the Amalfi coast and 2.5 hours from Rome. The applicant is expected to contribute to an European Research Program focused on the development and understanding of olefin metathesis catalyzed by transition metal complexes. Part of the project also requires development of software for the effective computational screening of a large numbers of potentially active catalysts.
Close collaboration with experimental partners, both in the academia and in the industry, is expected. So that the applicant should have experience for a fruitful interaction with an experimental counterpart.
This is a very challenging and integrated project, so that the applicant shoud be very motivated and it is expected she/he will contribute new ideas.
Applicants should have experience in two or more of the following:
                 A) Static quantum mechanics methods
                 B) Molecular dynamics simulations
                 C) Scientific programming
Position is for 1 year, renewable up to 3 years. Please send a CV and name of 3 references to Prof. Dr. Luigi Cavallo
